Construction for the Royal St. George’s College arts centre is underway at the all-boys independent school in downtown Toronto. The rejuvenated arts facility is part of the ongoing masterplan development of the RSGC campus which previously included the renovation of the middle school and dining hall.

The music classrooms of RSGC are currently on the lower floor of the historic St. Albans Chapel. The space will be updated to include two music studios, a music classroom, an art studio, and a student commons. The arching motifs synonymous with the chapel are maintained as white timber members line the perimeter of the studio spaces.

Ribbed timber acoustic paneling spans across the ceiling and walls, managing the sonic atmosphere of this creative hub. The natural materiality creates a warm and comforting environment, reducing the physiological and psychological stress of students by maintaining a connection to nature.
