Keynote Lecture and Advisor at Mass Timber Summit

“The buildings we spend all our time in, aren’t just walls and ceiling. They actively affect our physical and mental health.” Nic Wilson, Mass Timber Group

Tye Farrow, keynote lecturer at the 2026 Mass Timber Conference in Denver, Colorado, and Mass Timber Developer Accelerator Expert and Advisor for the Mass Timber Summit

The Mass Timber Summit is set to take place in Denver Colorado from August 19 – 21, held by the Mass Timber Group. The conference hosts professionals in architecture, engineering, manufacturing construction and development to explore mass timber as a building material.

The opening keynote lecture of the Mass Timber Summit will be delivered by Tye Farrow and architectural neuroimmunology researcher, Dr. Cleo Valentine. The pair will present Farrow Partners projects as case studies for a neuroscience study which investigates how timber environments can influence visual stimulation and brain activity.

Visual stress is integral to Dr. Valentine’s research, exploring how excess cognitive load caused by the built environment can lead to reduced capacity for learning, creating, and overall wellbeing. Salutogenic design practices can help counteract this phenomenon, reducing cognitive load and visual stress by using natural materials, mid-range fractal patterns, and comprehensible spaces to reinforce a sense of coherence.

Tye Farrow will also feature as an expert and advisor to the Mass Timber Developer Accelerator course for developers looking to use mass timber as a building material. Participants can debate and discuss the use of mass timber in past projects, share assumptions, design features, and business models, and bounce ideas around a room of globally recognised professionals with extensive experience with mass timber.
